Sophie Wilson moved to The Fens from London in 2015. She began making 1690 Ceramics in earnest in 2019, inspired by the lore, tradition and landscape of this very distinctive region of east England; described by Virginia Woolf as a ‘strange grey-green, undulating, dreaming, philosophising and remembering land.’ Sophie’s traditional techniques with terracotta and slip ware have a tipsy, illustrative twist.
